Rodizio Grill coming to downtown Stamford

Rodizio Grill on Wednesday will open a Brazilian steakhouse restaurant in downtown Stamford.

The 7,100-square-foot eatery at 5 Broad St. formerly was Houlihan’s.

Brazilian native Ivan Utrera originated Rodizio Grill in Colorado in 1995.

Joining seven other Rodizio sites in Colorado, Utah and Florida, the Stamford location will be locally owned and operated by restaurateur James Layfield and real estate broker Edward Zislis.

Rodizio officials also hinted Thursday in an announcement about the Stamford restaurant that a Boston location also is in the works.

A spokesman did not immediately return a phone call Thursday for comment.
