Rockville Bank has opened it’s first-ever “in-school” bank branch at South Windsor High School.
The branch will only serve the school’s students, faculty and administrative staff and will not be open to the general public. The branch will be located in the school’s main lobby and will be staffed by a supervisor from Rockville Bank and two student employees called “student bankers”.
Students who completed a personal finance course, are currently enrolled in the finance investment & banking course, and received positive teacher recommendations were identified as potential candidates for employment. Interviews were conducted by Rockville Bank and two students were selected as branch employees.
Rockville Bank says the goal of the partnership is to increase student understanding of financial services and promote their money management skills.
The current plan is to have the bank operate during the high school lunch period on days when the school is in session so students can take advantage of the services available without missing any class time.
