HOUSATONIC TO HONOR 2 NEWINGTON GRADUATES

Two Newington residents — Fernando Goncalves Rosa and Patricia J. “Patty” Foley — will be inducted into the Housatonic Community College Foundation’s Alumni Hall of Fame on Nov. 19.

Rosa is deputy director of HEDCO, Inc., which provides area small businesses with alternative financing and additional support that might be otherwise unavailable or inadequate. After Housatonic, he then went on to Central Connecticut State University where he received his bachelor of science in accounting.

He is chairman of the board of PALCUS, the Portuguese American Leadership Council of the United States; Connecticut director for the Portuguese American Citizenship Project; founder and a director of the Portuguese Foundation; director of Capital Workforce Partners and serves on the Newington Development Commission.

Foley, a certified public accountant, is the owner of her own business — Patricia J. Foley, CPA, and has been self-employed since 1998. She went on after graduating from Housatonic to receive her bachelor of science in accounting from Central Connecticut State University, and her MBA from the University of Hartford.

Recently, she became president of the New England Lace Group — a group begun almost 30 years ago to promote the making, collecting and preserving of lace throughout New England.

The ceremony will take place during the foundation’s third annual black tie gala, to be held in the college’s Beacon Hall Events Center on the Bridgeport campus.
