Riverfront Recapture’s Marfuggi to retire

Joseph R. Marfuggi, long-time president and CEO of Riverfront Recapture, said he is planning to retire from the nonprofit organization, which hopes to have a successor chosen within six months.

Marfuggi has worked for Riverfront, which aims to increase public access to the Connecticut River, for more than 27 years. Over that time, the nonprofit has assumed management of four riverfront parks in Hartford and East Hartford.

Riverfront has also taken the reins on events such as the July fireworks display, Dragon Boat and Asian Festival, the Big Mo’ annual fundraiser, and food festivals. It also runs recreation programs for youths and adults.

Riverfront said it hopes to find a successor to Marfuggi within six months. He will remain in his position until the transition is complete.
