RI’s Washington Trust closing Stonington branch in Sept.

Rhode Island lender Washington Trust Bancorp Inc. says one of its two Connecticut branches in the Mystic section of Stonington will shut in late September.

The Olde Mistick Village branch at 27 Coogan Blvd. will shut on Sept. 28, the bank said.

Washington Trust’s branch within a half-mile across the street, in McQuade’s Marketplace, 14 Clara Drive, will remain.

The four employees from the Olde Mistick Village branch will assume other banking positions within the bank.
