The Rhode Island Association of Realtors says the median price of a single family home rose to $225,000 in August, an increase of nearly 10 percent from the same time a year ago, The Associated Press reports.
The group says on Friday that the number of sales of single-family homes rose nearly 22 percent last month.
The number of condo sales rose nearly 77 percent during the month, although the median price for condos dropped around 2 percent to $199,000.
Victoria Doran, president of the group, says 2013 has been a turnaround year and that it looks like a housing recovery is on track. She says there is approximately a six-month supply of properties for sale, which is indicative of a healthy housing market.
