Richard named to head QU communications

Daryl Richard of West Hartford has been appointed vice president for marketing and communications at Quinnipiac University. He will serve on the president’s management committee and oversee integrated marketing communications, public affairs, public relations and the Quinnipiac Poll. He succeeds Lynn Bushnell, former vice president for public affairs, who retired earlier this year.

Richard comes to Quinnipiac from UnitedHealthcare, a Fortune 50 company where he was vice president for corporate communications. Before that Richard worked at Weber Shandwick, providing counsel to clients ranging from government agencies to technology startups and Fortune 100 companies. He also has served as director of communications for a nonprofit association. A graduate of Marist College with a bachelor’s in journalism, Richard also has worked at Congress Daily, Time and the Hartford Courant.

Catherine Poulin of Essex has been named community relations manager for Channel 3 Kids Camp. She will be responsible for all aspects of community relations including building relationships and awareness of the Andover camp, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that will mark its 110th anniversary in 2020. The Channel 3 Kids Camp provides year-round opportunities to children of all abilities through education and recreation programs that promote diversity, acceptance and environmental appreciation in a traditional camp setting. Poulin most recently was founder and president of Pitch Perfect Consulting LLC. Before that she was public relations director for Bob’s Discount Furniture in Manchester for 18 years. Poulin earned a bachelor’s in communications/advertising from Eastern Connecticut State University and a master’s in elementary education from Southern Connecticut State University.
