The state of Rhode Island has asked for permission to start charging drivers a toll on Interstate 95 near the Connecticut border, WPRI-TV reports.
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation filed an application in June asking the federal government to approve the installation of tollbooths between Exits 1 and 2 on both sides of I-95 in Hopkinton.
Documents on file don’t say how much the toll would be, the station reports on its Web site.
No tolls are proposed at the Massachusetts border.
