Revised CT housing permit data: 2013 outpaced 2012

There were more new-housing permits issued in Connecticut last year than originally thought, according to U.S. Census Bureau revisions analyzed by the state Department of Economic and Community Development.

Preliminary estimates, based on less data, indicated that permits fell more than 2 percent in 2013 compared to the year before, from 4,140 to 4,027.

Preliminary numbers, released in January, include data on only 128 of Connecticut’s 169 cities and towns.

The revised total, which was released Thursday and includes all 169 municipalities, is 5,424. That’s up from 4,669 for all municipalities in 2012.
