State and municipal authorities Monday morning dedicated a $2.4 million, two-thirds-of-a-mile-long renovation of the boardwalk linking Silver Sands State Park to Milford’s Walnut Beach.
Officials from the Connecticut Departments of Environmental Protection and Public Works and the City of Milford were on hand.
Construction of the new 3,430-foot composite wood fiber and polyethylene deck and railings began in January 2010, restoring and lengthening the entire boardwalk to 4,030 feet.
The boardwalk is accessible to all visitors in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and includes two ramps and three benches accessible for wheelchairs.
