Former Hartford Courant columnist, George Gombossy, became the news this week as his departure from the newspaper became the subject of a New York Times article and numerous blogs.
Gombossy alleges that the Courant’s new management forced him out because he wrote unflattering news about an advertiser, mattress vendor Sleepy’s Inc., which is under investigation by Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal.
The Courant published an article about the AG’s probe after he left the newspaper. In a written statement, the Courant said Gombossy’s job was eliminated and that he didn’t apply for a new position as a consumer columnist. (AP)
