Report: more CT uninsured without health reform

A new report says more people in Connecticut would be without health insurance and state residents would face higher costs if Congress and the president don’t improve the nation’s health care system.

The report released today by the nonpartisan Robert Wood Johnson Foundation says up to 479,000 Connecticut residents could be uninsured within 10 years, up from the 356,000 state residents who now lack insurance.

The estimates also predict that state residents could see their health care spending increase by up to 64 percent, and Connecticut employers could see their premiums nearly double over 10 years.

State government could also face a big hit. The report says spending for Medicaid and other health programs for the poor could rise as must as 105 percent over a decade. (AP)

Reader response:

“5 Ways to reduce Connecticut Health Insurances Costs today.

1. Disallow Drug Companies to make contributions to any Politicians.
2. Disallow the passing of Drug Advertizing costs to consumers. (occurs in most national health plans)
3. Allow Americans to purchase drugs from outside of America. (at least we could oversee and regulate drugs by making it legal)
4. Disallow all medical providers including Doctors and Hospitals from charging 400% markups to those who are uninsured. Allow up to 50% mark up over the Insurance company discounted rates.
5. Allow Insurance companies to sell special health policies without all the Connecticut state law mandates to low income people.” — Robin Dubord AAI, LUTCF, Creative Health Insurance
