The Greater Hartford metro area is ranked ninth in the country for having a high concentration of wine-related businesses, according to data analytics provider Infogroup.
Infogroup reviewed 15 million records in its business database to determine rankings for top metropolitan regions for beer and wine purveyors. Portland, Oregon ranks first in both categories. These metro areas were ranked by the concentration of beer- or wine-related businesses per 10,000 residents.
“Through data analysis we are able to highlight cities where industry penetration of beer and wine plays a major role in the social and cultural aspects of consumer’s lives,” said Matt Graves, chief data officer at Infogroup. “This analysis provides the best foundation for marketers and business owners looking to begin a career or start a business in the beer or wine industries.”
Metro areas that prefer wine tend to have a higher average income and home value, along with a slightly higher percentage of college graduates, the report found.
