Connecticut ranked dead last in a list of best states for pharmacists published this week by career site Zippia.
To crunch the numbers, Zippia measured which states have the most pharmacist jobs available and which states pay pharmacists the highest salaries. It compared federal salary data relative to the state’s cost of living from MIT’s living wage index.
Connecticut ranked 50th with an average salary of $117,910 and an entry-level salary of $82,810. Neighboring Massachusetts ranked 49th, with an average salary of $113,690 and New York was 48th, at an average salary of $117,590.
The No. 1 state? Kentucky, with an average annual salary of $121,530. Rounding out the top five were West Virginia, Mississippi, Missouri and Alabama.
