Report: CT has more than 12,000 energy-efficiency jobs

A new report says Connecticut has 12,460 jobs related to energy efficiency, particularly in lighting technologies.

The report, released Thursday by industry association Environmental Entrepreneurs and nonprofit E4TheFuture and written by BW Research, said 52 percent of the state’s energy efficiency jobs were related to efficient lighting, while the next biggest category was advanced materials and insulation, followed by renewable and efficient heating and cooling.

Fairfield County had the most energy efficiency jobs, with 4,176, followed by Hartford County with 2,992.

There are more than 1.9 million energy efficiency jobs in the U.S., the report found, with the greatest number in California. Massachusetts had the fourth-highest number.
