Connecticut is among the 15 worst states for drivers, according to a new report by Bankrate.com, which  identified high repair and insurance costs as major drawbacks for Nutmeg State drivers.
Bankrate.com ranked all 50 states according to several factors such as fatal crashes, car thefts, average commute times, gasoline spending, repair costs and insurance premiums.
Connecticut ranked No. 35 on the list, with in-state drivers averaging $1,062.33 in premiums, and spending $950.33 annually for gas and $436.98 for repairs. State resident’s average commute is 24.1 minutes.
Idaho is the best state for drivers due to its low gas and insurance expenses, below-average thefts and short commute times. Vermont, Wyoming, Wisconsin and Minnesota rounded out the five best states for drivers.
Louisiana placed last on the list in large part because of the nation’s highest car insurance costs and an above-average fatal crash rate.  California, Texas, Maryland and New Jersey comprise the rest of the bottom five.
