Rentschler Field, home of the UConn Huskies Football team, suffered a $2.4 million operating loss in fiscal 2011, driven in part by more than $260,000 in uncollected revenue from the entertainment company ran by Howard Baldwin.
The stadium, which is managed by Bushnell Management Services, saw its 2011 revenues reach $5.8 million, but its expenses were about $8.2 million for the fiscal year ending June 30, according to a report issued Tuesday by the state Auditor’s of Public Accounts.
The expenses were driven by a $2.2 million depreciation expense and $2.2 million for parking. On the revenue side of the ledger, Rentschler Field brought in $2.1 million from events operations.
The stadium is also owed $265,048 from the Hartford Hockey Club, which is owned by Howard Baldwin who organized the Hockey Fest at Rentschler Field in the winter of 2011.
Baldwin said the issue involves a disputed bill for snow removal for Hockey Fest.
