A New Haven apartment building that was condemned before selling for $1.46 million in 2020 has changed hands again for $6.15 million following its complete renovation.
In a deed recorded June 30, a limited liability company headed by Mark Mehlman, of Lakewood, New Jersey, sold the five-story, 40-unit apartment building on roughly one-third of an acre at 66 Norton St. to another LLC headed by Alan and Svetlana Wasserman, of New Rochelle, New York.
The 41,707-square-foot, brick apartment building dates to 1900, according to city records.
Bradley Balletto and Derek Mahabir of Northeast Private Client Group represented the seller and procured the buyer.
Mahabir said the seller had performed a full rehabilitation of the building, replacing all major systems.
“He took it from a condemned building to a very nice, modern building,” Mahabir said.
The property was nearly fully leased at time of sale, Mahabir said, adding that about half of tenants are college students.
