Eversource Energy, formerly Northeast Utilities, said better transmission segment earnings and lower operation and maintenance costs boosted its fourth-quarter profits by 25 percent.
Eversource recorded net income of $221.6 million, or 69 cents per share, up from $177.4 million, or 56 cents, in the year-ago quarter.
Operating revenue increased by more than $103 million, to $1.88 billion.
For the full year, Eversource netted $819.5 million, or $2.58 per diluted share, up from $786 million, or $2.49, in 2013.
Revenue grew 6 percent, to $7.74 billion.
For 2015, Eversource is projecting earnings per share between $2.75 and $2.90.
