The Connecticut General Assembly’s tax-writing committee will hear reactions to Gov. M. Jodi Rell’s plans to raise revenue, including allowing keno gambling in bars and restaurants, The Associated Press reports.
The Finance Revenue and Bonding Committee has scheduled a public hearing for Monday.
The Republican governor in February unveiled her proposed revisions to the second year of the two-year state budget. In addition to keno, Rell’s proposals would modify a job-creation tax credit to help smaller businesses and forgive some college loan debt for college graduates who work in certain technology fields.
Sen. Eileen Daily, the committee’s co-chairwoman, said she expects lawmakers will also discuss Rell’s call for canceling state bonding for various capital improvement projects.
