Reliability in Action: A Year in Review

Sponsored by Eversource Energy

At Eversource, delivering safe and reliable electric service to our customers is a year-round priority. As we reaffirm that commitment in 2026, our team is working harder than ever to ensure the electric system is smarter and more resilient with fewer outages, all while allowing for seamless connection to new clean energy sources that will help meet current and future energy demands of residents and businesses. Thanks to our consistent investments in the electric system, we continue to be ranked as an industry leader in key reliability metrics while providing stable delivery costs that are in line with the national average—a testament to how we are enhancing service for customers in the most cost-effective manner possible. That progress continued in 2025, and our achievements will set even higher benchmarks for the benefit of our customers in 2026.

Strong Restoration and Reinforcing the Grid

Whether it’s a clear day or when severe weather strikes, our customers count on us to have a safe, reliable electric grid, and they have firm expectations for a swift response when outages occur. Last year, we restored power to nearly two million customers in Connecticut, with more than 787,000 customers restored in under five minutes thanks to smart technology. This includes the use of smart switches, which are automated devices we’ve installed on the system that can isolate outages and reroute power from another source—shortening the amount of time customers are without power.

Another core facet of our year-round reliability work is reinforcing the electric grid so it can better withstand extreme weather. In 2025, we installed nearly 4,400 new utility poles and more than 200 miles of overhead wire across Connecticut. Combined with our comprehensive vegetation management work, these investments all help to strengthen the electric system so it is more resilient to the increasingly frequent and intense storms we experience in New England.

During severe weather and other emergencies, we know how critical it is to have close collaboration with our communities to ensure a safe, efficient response. We are constantly focused on enhancing lines of communication with our municipal partners and working together to address community priorities. One example is clearing blocked roads, including more than 2,000 that were made impassable last year due to storm damage and other public safety issues. In coordination with first responders, we also offered more than 150 training courses in 2025 to discuss tools and procedures that help us operate together more effectively during emergencies, such as our Municipal Hub, which public safety officials can use to report blocked roads and view local outage information quickly.

Supporting Our Communities

We’re proud to support the communities we serve, and that goes beyond providing them with superior service. In 2025, our team supported nearly 300 Connecticut nonprofit groups by providing grants and approximately 30,000 hours of volunteer work to help worthy causes. Our signature events and other key partnerships help our communities across the entire region we serve, including our annual United Way employee giving campaign that raised $1.2 million last year to support the people and businesses we serve.

Working for a Better Tomorrow

2025 was also a year of meaningful recognition for our company. Eversource was named one of America’s Most Responsible Companies by Newsweek, and among America’s Climate Leaders by USA Today for our commitment to sustainability across our business operations. Among other recognitions, we were also honored with the U.S. Department of Labor’s prestigious HIRE Vets Medallion Award for the sixth consecutive year, highlighting our ongoing efforts to recruit, retain and develop veterans in our workforce.

These honors underscore the mission that our more than 10,000 dedicated employees work toward every day—building a stronger, more reliable energy future for our customers. We strive to advance this goal in all that we do, and we look forward to building on our accomplishments from 2025 throughout this new year.
