Redesigned CT power bills debuting July 1

Newly redesigned electric utility power bills designed to give ratepayers a better idea of what they are paying for the power supply will first appear on July 1.

The power bills from Eversource Energy and United Illuminating are designed to help ratepayers determine how much they would pay under different energy suppliers. While Eversource and UI distribute the power to customers, ratepayers can choose between various competitive suppliers for their energy or simply use the default utility standard service rate.

The new bills show the customers how much they paid their energy supplier, how long their contract with that supplier is, and how much they would have paid under the default utility rate.

A second redesign of utility bills is set for January, with additional information like anticipated rate changes for the following month and cancellation fees to switch back to the utility rate.
