Redeker newest acting CT DOT chief

Former New Jersey transit official James P. Redeker is the new acting commissioner for the Connecticut transportation department, the second interim chief in two months.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy on Friday put Redeker, a Cheshire resident, temporarily in charge of the 3,100-employee agency until he completes his nationwide search for a permanent successor.

Previous Acting Commissioner Jeffrey A. Parker resigned in Feburary to pursue other opportunities.

Redeker joined the DOT in 2008 after a 30-year career with the New Jersey Department of Transportation and N.J. Transit.
