Real estate company buys its West Hartford HQ, other commercial building for nearly $7M

A West Hartford real estate company recently paid nearly $7 million for a 30,324-square-foot retail/office building that hosts its headquarters, and a 3,579-square-foot former residential building that’s been converted to commercial use, both in West Hartford.

Lewis Real Estate Services LLC, headquartered at 994-1000 Farmington Ave., purchased the building, which is located on nearly seven-tenths of an acre, for $5.8 million in a sale logged by the town May 25.

The 82-year-old property also hosts an apothecary, attorneys, counseling services, physicians and a tea shop, along with dozens of other small businesses, according to Scott Lewis, CEO of Lewis Real Estate Services.
Lewis Real Estate Services has been located in the building for two years, and it made sense to buy when it came on the market, Lewis said.

“It just made financial sense and I think it’s an important piece in West Hartford,” Lewis said. “The building is a hidden gem on account of the businesses located there.”

Lewis said he plans to upgrade and update the exterior of the building, which he plans to call the Lewis Business Center. The building offers spaces from 800 to 2,500 square feet, he said.

Lewis also purchased 75 Brace Road, a 110-year-old residential building converted to commercial use, for $1.1 million in a sale recorded May 25. This flexible building is located on a corner of West Hartford center.

Both properties were sold by 994-1000 Farmington Ave LLC, whose principal is Leslie Ann Brown, of Sarasota, Florida.

Lewis real estate offers brokerage services and carries its own investments. The company also specializes in short-term vacation rentals, with properties in Puerto Rico and Martha’s Vineyard.
