Raytheon, Pratt receive $174M defense contract

The U.S. Navy signed a $174-million contract with Massachusetts defense manufacturer Raytheon Technologies Corp. and East Hartford’s Pratt & Whitney Military Engines.

The $174-million contract, which the U.S. Department of Defense announced earlier this week, is a modification of a deal for the companies to produce F-135 jet engines, according to a DOD statement.

Neither Raytheon nor Pratt immediately responded to a Hartford Business Journal inquiry about the contract Friday morning.

Most of the work for the contract will be completed in Connecticut, with about 46% of work to be performed in Middletown, 22% in East Hartford and 15% in Windsor Locks. The remainder will be done at worksites in Maine, Arizona and Puerto Rico. DOD expects work will be completed by June of 2022.
