Quinnipiac University’s School of Education has been awarded a $751,755 grant from the National Science Foundation’s Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program to address the growing shortage of qualified STEM educators in the U.S.
The grant will fund scholarships for 18 students pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree, helping them transition from science, technology, engineering and math majors into skilled, certified K-12 teachers.
The program will cover more than 90% of tuition costs and provide a yearlong residency in local school districts, including New Haven, East Haven and Hamden.
Participants will co-teach alongside mentors during their graduate year, gaining hands-on experience while receiving extensive professional development. This includes STEM-focused workshops, participating in community STEM events, and attending national conferences. Each graduate will also benefit from three years of post-program mentorship.
