Quinnipiac University President Judy Olian announced Friday that she will step down from her role at the end of the 2024-25 academic year after seven years on the job.
Olian joined Quinnipiac in 2018 as the school’s ninth president. She steered the university through the COVID-19 pandemic, helped launch numerous new degree and certificate programs, and oversaw construction of the Recreation and Wellness Center and development of the South Quad, which features several new buildings, including a business school and recently opened 415-bed residence hall known as The Grove.
“This was a difficult and emotional decision for me — serving in this role over the past six-plus years has truly been the privilege of my life,” Olian said. “Timing for such decisions is never ideal — there is always more to do, plans that are not yet completed. However, Quinnipiac’s upward momentum is heartening, and I have every confidence in the institution’s continued successes.”
Quinnipiac said its board of trustees will conduct a national search for Olian’s successor over the coming months.
She currently chairs the Division I Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, is a member of the board of the Knight Commission on Collegiate Athletics and co-chairs AdvanceCT, the state’s nonprofit business recruitment arm.
Prior to joining Quinnipiac, she held leadership positions at UCLA, Penn State and the University of Maryland.
