Quinnipiac U. engineering professor to lead national society

Grant Crawford, a professor of mechanical engineering at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, has been picked as president-elect of the American Society for Engineering Education. 

Crawford, a Cheshire resident, will begin his term at the society’s annual meeting in June. He will serve as president in 2024-25. 

Founded in 1893, the global society spans all disciplines of engineering education and includes individual, institutional and corporate members.

Crawford joined the School of Computing and Engineering at Quinnipiac in 2014.

According to Crawford, it is an exciting time for society members as the engineering profession is focusing on global challenges facing humanity.

“By some estimates, our precious planet will reach its capacity of 10 billion people by 2050,” Crawford said. “Fulfilling the need for clean water, energy, food, waste disposal, medical care, etc., will require the combined talents and energies of engineers in all disciplines.”

Webster Bank promotes new business banking leader

Stamford-based Webster Bank recently promoted Kathleen Stanley to the role of executive managing director, head of business banking.

Stanley, who has more than 30 years of experience in banking, will oversee teams dedicated to providing core lending, deposit and treasury management services to business owners. 

Prior to joining Webster Bank, Stanley led treasury and deposit solutions for the East Coast at City National Bank and the treasury management sales team for Capital One’s Northeast Commercial Bank.
