Quinnipiac University said it has received a $1 million gift from a Massachusetts insurance executive and his wife that it will use to establish an academic chairmanship at its Central European Institute.
The money is from Pete Novak — general agent of Springfield, Mass.-based Charter Oak Insurance and Financial Services Co., and a board member at CEI — and his wife Kasia Novak.
The Novak Family Polish Chair will oversee a soon-to-be-created Polish American Business Leader Scholars Program, which will provide annual scholarships for Polish students to pursue their MBA at Quinnipiac and gain corporate experience before returning home.
Quinnipiac will match the donation, creating a $2 million fund.
