Quality Hyundai getting new home

Quality Hyundai is moving from Branford to a 24,000-square-foot state-of-the-art dealership to be built in New Haven.

Owner Joe Blichfeldt has chosen Pat Munger Construction Co. Inc. to transform a former regional post office processing center on Frontage Road into the dealership’s environmentally-friendly new home.

Munger will break ground in the next few weeks; the dealership is expected to be completed by Aug. 30.

Munger’s design team is collaborating with Design Two Architects. Plans include sustainable energy savings through LED lighting, SunPort daylighting systems and building envelope modeling features that use high efficiency HVAC systems.

The interior will feature a storefront aluminum framing system and the exterior will be updated to a curtain wall framed glazing system with ACM panels installed directly over the old masonry exterior. Customers will have access to Wi-Fi services and multiple workstations while they wait for their car to be serviced.

This is the second time the two firms have worked together. In 1976, Blichfeldt hired Munger to build an addition to the car dealership’s Wallingford service center.
