Quinnipiac University’s School of Nursing said it has received $50,000 from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, which it will use to fund five scholarships in the coming school year.
The grants are meant to lessen the country’s nursing shortage and support traditionally underrepresented students who make a career switch to nursing through an accelerated degree program.
Quinnipiac said scholarship recipients for the 2014-2015 school year include men and students with military backgrounds.
The foundation also awarded grants to 51 other schools.
