Connecticut 2015 individual health insurance premium proposals have averaged a 5.1 percent rate increase, which puts the state below the national average, according to an analysis by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
Nationally, health insurance premium proposals have averaged 7.5 percent, PwC said.
However, Connecticut’s average proposed monthly premium is $475 (not including federal subsidies), which is higher than the national average of $384.
PwC noted that its analysis is preliminary. Data was only available from 27 states, and some have only reported partial premium data so far.
