PW Power Systems reaches production milestone

A former energy subsidiary of East Hartford manufacturer Pratt & Whitney will put out its 100 mobile power generator this month.

PW Power Systems of Glastonbury started off as a Pratt division, using the company’s jet engine technology to make natural gas turbines. The division was sold to Toyko-based Mitsubishi Heavy after Pratt parent United Technologies Corp. bought Goodrich Corp. for $16 billion and wanted to focus on aerospace and facilities products.

PW Power Systems is celebrating because the manufacturer will produce its 100th MobilePac unit out of its Glastonbury facility. The mobile generator produces up to 25 megawatts of electricity.

The celebration will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the offices of a PW supplier, Sound Construction & Engineering of Bloomfield. Pratt officials are anticipated to attend the event.
