PURA commissioner named head of national group of regulators

PURA Commissioner Michael Caron was elected president of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners during the national group’s meeting in New Orleans Monday.

Caron, a state utility commissioner appointed by former Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, is part of a new slate of officers for the nonprofit organization that represents state public service commissioners who regulate telecommunications, energy and water utilities.

Caron previously served a one-year term as first vice president of the organization.

He succeeds Virginia State Corp. Commission Judge Judith Williams Jagdmann as head of the group.
