The University of New Haven’s College of Business wants driven future business leaders so bad it’s laying $480,000 on the line to land four of them.
The business college’s executive dean, himself a former MasterCard global marketing chief who oversaw its “Priceless” campaign, is offering four incoming students a shot at a full four-year ride worth $120,000 each at the school for taking him up on his entrepreneurship challenge.
The online competition via Facebook, which will have up to four awardees, is open to any incoming freshman or transfer student to UNH — a first in its nearly 100-year history.
“We’re looking to discover students who have the potential to become future leaders in the business world, as many UNH College of Business alumni already have,” said dean Larry Flanagan, himself an alum.
Participants must create a Facebook page for their business. As part of the project, they will have to define what the business is, what it does, why it is unique, why it is needed, and how it will be positioned to achieve and sustain long-term success.
The student also must state why he or she is the person who should lead the business. Entrants will be judged by Flanagan and a panel of faculty, alumni and business leaders.
