Ella Grasso Technical High School in Groton unveiled its newly constructed E-House Tuesday.
The house, designed and built by Connecticut students and faculty, will provide architectural, carpentry, electrical and plumbing students clean energy and efficiency curriculum and training.
The house’s “green” design incorporates solar photovoltaic, solar thermal systems, weatherization, and energy efficiency labs where students can conduct hands-on field work in preparation for a green career after graduation.
The Connecticut Light and Power, and United Illuminating initiative, which looks to construct E-Houses at all 17 Connecticut technical high schools, opened its first E-House in September 2011, at New Britain’s E.C. Goodwin Technical High School.
The second debuted in October 2012, at Torrington’s Oliver Wolcott Technical High School.
