PTI Industries honored for efficiency

The Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund honored Enfield manufacturer PTI Industries Inc. for its efforts in reducing its electricity consumption.

The company has participated in numerous efficiency programs since 2008, notably switching to two high-efficiency machines since 2008 that increases the life of metal parts and increased PTI’s market share by 15 percent.

Using $230,185 of CEEF incentives, PTI installed high efficiency lighting, replaced an air compressor with a more efficient model, steamlined product flow, improved production efficiency and reduced waste in its processes.

Over the lifetime of the new equipment, PTI expects to save 26 million kilowatt-hours of electricity. The total cost savings will be $334,000.

“As a manufacturing company in Connecticut, we have to stay extremely lean in our processes and efficient with our energy usage in order to keep operating costs at a minimum to remain competitive,” said John Hill, PTI’s director of product research and development, in a press release.
