Proton Energy Systems in Wallingford has set a Feb. 10 deadline for applications for its first $100,000 scholarship to promote science and technology education nationally.
The Wallingford maker of generators used to separate hydrogen from water for use as energy source opened the competition for the four-year scholarship to high school seniors in all 50 states who pursue a degree in science or technology.
Proton Energy owner Tom Sullivan, who also founded national chain Lumber Liquidators, has committed $1 million to the Hydrogen Education Foundation, which administers the scholarship.
