For-profit healthcare operator Prospect Medical Holdings said it’s relocated the CEO of one of its three Connecticut hospitals to a new leadership role in Pennsylvania.
Prospect, which owns Manchester and Rockville Memorial hospitals (which together comprise Eastern Connecticut Health Network), said the leader of Waterbury Hospital, Peter Adamo, has been named CEO of the Prospect-owned Crozer-Keystone Health System, which is based in southeastern Pennsylvania and has four hospitals.
Replacing Adamo is Lester Schindel, who had been interim CEO prior to Adamo’s hire in 2017.

He will once again hold the interim title, as Prospect conducts a nationwide search for a permanent successor at Waterbury.
Adamo’s departure comes as Prospect’s Connecticut hospitals continue to face scrutiny from state regulators, after a suicide and suicide attempt last year at Waterbury, and several serious errors at ECHN, the Hartford Courant reported.
“I am leaving with mixed emotions, but I am confident that Waterbury Hospital will continue its successful path under Les’ leadership,” Adamo said in a statement.
