Proposed casino receives five bids in four towns

MMCT Venture, the company formed by the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan tribes, has received five proposals in response to its plans to build a new gambling facility that will be located in the Hartford region. Entities in East Hartford, East Windsor, Hartford and Windsor Locks have expressed an interest in being part of the effort to keep gaming dollars in Connecticut.

“The response we’ve received since releasing the RFP has been overwhelming,” said Rodney Butler, xhairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council. “Our mission hasn’t changed. We want this new facility to be located in a community that wants us there and values the jobs and revenue we’ll bring. Our next step is to assess which options present the best path forward.”

Pearce Real Estate, a Connecticut based real estate company, administered the RFP. Evaluation of the proposals will begin immediately.

Pearce’s review will build on the parameters that were set when the RFP was released, including each entity’s ability and willingness to work with municipalities, landowners, developers, labor and other stakeholders to complete the project quickly and efficiently.

MMCT aims to make a selection by Dec. 15, 2015. Legislative approval is still required before the casino can open.
