The Bristol Zoning Commission will consider an application seeking to change the zone for a former medical office building to allow for the development of residential housing.
The 3.3-acre property at 625 Clark Ave. in Bristol has been owned by Chippen’s Hill Office Park LLC of Middletown since 2002.
The property currently is zoned for industrial use, though most recently it was used as medical office space but is now vacant. The application seeks a zone change to multifamily residential.
According to a narrative letter submitted with the application, converting the property to residential is desired due to “a lack of demand for office space in the community.”
The narrative also states that the neighborhood around 625 Clark Ave. “has seen a transition toward mixed-use, residential development, making a residential zone a more suitable and integrated use.” It adds that the property borders an existing residential zone across the street.
The narrative does not include information about the number or type of multifamily housing that would be developed on-site. Since the application is for a zone change, it was not necessary to submit a site plan proposal.
The Bristol Zoning Commission is scheduled to discuss the project during its regular meeting Monday at 6 p.m. in City Hall at 111 North Main St.
