Propane-equipped vehicles demo at CT Capitol

Proponents of propane autogas, a type of propane gas used to fuel cars and trucks, are bringing some propane-powered vehicles to the state Capitol, The Associated Press reports.

The Propane Gas Association of New England plans to hold a demonstration Wednesday of a propane-equipped school bus, a commercial lawn mower, a truck and a propane bi-fuel car that can use propane autogas and gasoline. The association is hoping to encourage the expanded use of propane autogas.

Proponents of propane autogas say it is a cheap, safe, locally-produced and environmentally-friendly alternative to gasoline and diesel.

The propane gas association on Wednesday is also scheduled to honor Shelton mayor Mark Lauretti, who organizers say has been a leader in the use of propane gas.
