A Connecticut backyard pool company has been acquired by a Massachusetts provider of pool services.
JPS Pool Service, based in Pomfret, has been acquired by Easton Select Group, a pool-services company backed by private equity firm Brenton Point Capital Partners.
JPS was founded in 2009 by owner-operator Joshua Mattey. It specializes in pool service, maintenance and renovation for both residential and some commercial customers. It is also an authorized warranty service provider for major pool equipment manufacturers.
JPS will continue to operate under its own brand, and Mattey will continue to lead day-to-day operations, according to Easton.
Easton was formed in 2024 after receiving an investment from Brenton Point Capital Partners to support a strategy of acquiring independent pool service and backyard leisure businesses.
Easton said its strategy is to pursue acquisitions in what it calls a highly fragmented industry as a way to achieve competitive advantage through scale. It says the JPS acquisition is a step in its continuing expansion into Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut.
The group has made about 14 previous acquisitions of local small pool businesses in Massachusetts, Maine and Rhode Island. It has one other Connecticut-based company within the group — Blue Wave in Wallingford.
