A private equity investor has bought a retail property and two office buildings in New Canaan for $9.3 million, according to the town’s property records.
Thomas Burger, of New Canaan, purchased the 1.5-story retail building, on a 0.2-acre parcel at 72 Grove St., for $2 million. It has a gross lease area of 1,002 square feet and was built in 1890.
He bought a one-story office building, on a half-acre plot at 58 Pine St., for $1.76 million. It has a gross lease area of 6,696 square feet and was built in 1949, property records state.
Burger acquired another one-story office building, on a 0.79-acre parcel at 70 Pine St., for $5.5 million. It has a gross lease area of 10,298 square feet and was built in 1951.
He bought the properties at 72 Grove St. and 58 Pine St. from Daniel S. Jones, of New Canaan, and the 70 Pine St. property from Susan S. Jones, also of New Canaan. Daniel S. Jones bought the Grove Street building for $389,000 in 1988 and the Pine Street property for $538,000 in 1979. Susan S. Jones bought the other Pine Street building for $925,000 in 1992.
The three properties have a combined appraised value of $9.85 million and a combined assessed value of $6.89 million.
Calls to Burger were not immediately returned. He is the co-founder and managing partner of Gridiron Capital, a private equity firm, headquartered in an office building at 50 Pine St., New Canaan, that he also owns.
