Private equity firm acquires Windsor manufacturer

A UK-based manufacturer of gas- and air-handling services has acquired Spencer Turbine of Windsor.

Howden Group Limited, a portfolio company of KPS Capital Partners, purchased Spencer Turbine from Alliance Holdings of Horsham, Pa., for an undisclosed sum, the companies announced.

Spencer, which has been in business since 1892, was previously acquired by Alliance in 2007.
Spencer makes gas and air handling equipment with sales primarily in the U.S. and China. It employs over 90 people at its Windsor location.

Company president Tony Mancini said Howden’s larger market will help Spencer Turbine.
