Danbury industrial-gas supplier Praxair Inc. has agreed to build a pair of air-separation plants turning out 3,000 tons of production gases daily for one of Russia’s biggest steelmakers.
Terms of the deal between Praxair Rus and steelmaker Evraz Group SA were not disclosed.
Praxair will open and operate the plants in late 2013 in Nizhniy Tagil in the industrial region of central Russia, replacing two older facilities that separate atmospheric air into oxygen, nitrogen and argon for steel production.
Praxair has similar air-separator construction/operating pacts with industrial firms throughout the world.
Evraz Group is a vertically-integrated steel, mining and vanadium business with operations in the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Europe, U.S., Canada and South Africa.
