Danbury’s Praxair Inc. will build a Newfoundland air-separation plant to supply oxygen to a new nickel processing plant being built in Long Harbor.
Praxair Canada Inc. contracted with Vale mining company to supply up to 390 tons per day, starting in mid 2013.
Nickel is used to produce stainless steel and other alloys, used in various industries, including aircraft.
Praxair supplies air gases to industrial plants and welding-supply houses worldwide.
