Danbury specialty gas provider Praxair, Inc. will sell the American portion of its homecare business to California home therapy provider Apria.
The deal, expect to close by April, gives Apria 85 branch locations to provide home respiratory services and durable medical equipment. Praxair will continue to serve the homecare market in other countries.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Given Apria’s broader and deeper capabilities in the U.S. homecare market, we believe Praxair’s U.S. customers will be well served by this acquisition,” said Scott Telesz, Praxair senior vice president, in a statement.
Praxair produces, sells and distributes specialty gases and surface coatings. Its 2010 sales were $10 billion.
