Danbury industrial gas supplier Praxair Inc. signed a contract with ExxonMobil to operate an air separation unit to supply more nitrogen for enhanced oil recovery operations at ExxonMobil’s Hawkins, Texas, gas processing plant site.
Under the new contract, Praxair will build a nitrogen-production facility to ExxonMobil’s standards. Start-up is set for the second half of 2011.
Terms were not disclosed.
Praxair will produce 85 million cubic feet per day of high-pressure nitrogen and additional quantities of liquid argon.
ExxonMobil currently uses Praxair’s nitrogen gas to increase oil and natural gas recovered from its Hawkins plant. Â
