Danbury industrial gas supplier Praxair Inc. says it has successfully commercialized its oxygen combustion technology at a pair of copper smelters in Jinchang city in the Gansu province of northwest China.
Praxair said its diluted oxygen combustion (DOC) technology should help smelter owner Jinchuan Group Ltd. save more than $1.5 million annually in lower fuel costs, along with reduced emissions of carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide.
Praxair said its DOC technology blends fuel and oxygen to promote a more efficient burn inside the furnaces.
In 2009, Praxair debuted its technology at Jinlong Copper in Anhui province, East China.
